Описание:
Blood Falls form at the end of Taylor Glacier in Antarctica when iron-rich brine from the earth under the glacier flows up through the ice and emerges from cracks at the surface. Scientists used a time-lapse camera and nearby seismic sensors to observe a brine release event, expecting to detect a seismic signal of cracking that allows the red waters to flow. However, they did not detect such a signal. They conclude that the seismic signal was likely there, but below the detection limit of their equipment due to it being from smaller-than-expected cracks and was also masked by the signals of other cracks opening nearby.
