Cornwall is a must see for anybody traveling the UK - despite being only a 4 hour road trip from London, it's also relatively unknown to foreign tourists. Our mission: to find St Michael's Mount, the castle in the ocean.
Our 4 road trip took us from London, past some of the best sights in the UK. Full itinerary with video timecodes is listed below under the links...

FULL CORNWALL ROAD TRIP ITINERARY: Things to do in Cornwall
0:32 - The Eden Project
Famous biodome experience I didn't return to during this trip.
1:21 - Stonehenge
You can see it pretty clearly as you drive down the A303 road. Visiting is quite expensive and you don't get to walk up and touch the stones anymore (apart from during the summer solstice). Contrary to popular belief, you can still see the stones for free quite easily. You can park at the Stonehenge Visitors Centre, then walk down a road for about a mile which brings you passed the main entrance and you can get a very clear view from the side.Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world and should be on any bucket list.
1:35 - St Austell Brewery
A great brewery serving great beer. You can't go to many pubs which won't serve at least one of their brews. The upstairs Brewery bar is a great place to hide from the rain.
1:48 - Porthpean Beach
A little hidden gem just outside of St Austell. Mainly used by the local sailing club, you can visit this quiet spot without running into anybody else.
1:58 - Kynance Cove
One of the most beautiful viewpoints in Cornwall. The water is a beautiful blue colour even on grey days.
2:11 - Mousehole
The cutest little village in Cornwall. Everything is very small and quiet. There are a bunch of quirky shops and a walk around the harbor is a must. It is also a hot spot for painters and other artists.
2:22 - Penzance
We stayed at an Airbnb in Penzance for the duration of our stay. It's not the prettiest town in the area, but there is an abundance of great places to eat and drink. The locals are very proud of their pirate heritage.
3:03 St Michael's Mount
The reason we took our road trip. The castle in the ocean is a surreal and stunning sight, that can be seen from all around. I highly recommend parking a little way down the beach and taking a walk - which allows you to take in the sight.
3:41 - St Michael's Mount Causeway
Walking the causeway is a surreal and beautiful experience. Try to get there just as it opens (details are all on the website), which changes according to the tides. We got there early and had breakfast at the hotel opposite, where you can watch the sea gradually reveal the walkway. Walking along the stone is even more magical when it's still partially covered with water. You can walk the causeway for free, but you have to pay to gain entrance to the castle and the main gardens. In bad weather, there is a boat service that can take you to the island - but in my opinion it's not as fun.
4:27 - Porthcurno Beach
The most beautiful beach in Cornwall. Bright sand, blue water. Very popular with surfers and can get very busy in high season.
4:44 - Minack Theatre
The coolest theatre I've ever seen. Built in ancient greek style way on the edge of a cliff, you'll never see another place like it. We didn't see a production there (performances run all year round) but you can visit for a small fee - well worth seeing for the views of the sea and Porthcurno Beach below.
5:00 - St Ives
A busy, quirky town with plenty of great cornish food (you must try a pasty!) and trendier bars that serve craft beer. I highly recommend a visit to the Barbara Hepworth Gallery. A beautiful and peaceful walled garden containing some stunning sculptures.
5:16 - Land's End
The most westerly point in the whole of the UK, offering some stunning scenery. There is a small arcade and amusement park area open during the day, as well as a hotel and shop offering food and drink. I recommend that you visit for sunset and see the sun go down over the sea as you walk over to the famous Land's End sign post and see the rock formations glow.
