How can I create start-triangle circuit with helper-relays?
The star-triangle circuit is explained here using the example of increasing a fan speed.
Two fan relays were previously defined in the matrix plan: one slow-speed and one fast-speed. Now the switchover delay between these two can be defined.
The relay with the slow-speed motor takes on the role of the helper. The speed is increased slowly before the main relay takes over and increases to the desired target speed. This prevents the fast-rotating fan from drawing too many amps when starting up and tripping the circuit breaker in the electrical cabinet.
To set the star-delta circuit or switchover delay, switch back to «Programming» mode and then click on the «Delays» button. Define the helper relay and the corresponding runtime. Under «Delay», specify how long the activation of the subsequent main relay should be delayed. Now specify which is the main relay that is to be switched after the helper relay.
Save the settings.
Back in the matrix plan, the relays can now be assigned to the processes and activated by clicking on the corresponding intersection between the relay and the process. Using the fans as an example, an ‘S’ with a small clock icon now appears. This indicates that the relays are statically switched on during the process and that delays have been defined.
