2022 Indian State Elections Results: Analysis and Implications

On March 10, election results will be announced for five states - Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Together these states account for 240 million people. This is a crucial mid-term litmus test for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which controls four of these states. The election results also have major implications on issues with national and global impact such as climate change mitigation.

To discuss these facets and analyze the results, the CSIS Wadhwani Chair in U.S.-India Policy Studies will host a panel discussion on March 15th from 9:00 am – 10:00 am ET. Panelists include Milan Vaishnav, Director and Senior Fellow of the South Asia program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Katherine Hadda, former U.S. diplomat and U.S. Consul General Hyderabad, and Neelima Jain, Deputy Director and Senior Fellow at the Wadhwani Chair. The discussion will be moderated by Richard M. Rossow, Director and Senior Fellow at the Wadhwani Chair.
