Discover how the William G. Pomeroy Foundation’s Pomeroy Education Program (PEP) empowers students to research, document, and commemorate local history through grant funded historical markers. This recorded webinar, presented in collaboration with the National History Club (NHC), introduces educators and club advisors to a primary source research curriculum that guides students through historical inquiry and provides the opportunity to apply for a fully funded Pomeroy Marker.

Pomeroy Foundation Research Historian Anastasia Sopchak shares how PEP engages students in authentic historical work, including primary source research and collaboration with local historians and public officials. The webinar highlights recent student led marker projects funded by the Foundation, including a Hometown Heritage marker for WWI nurse May Berry completed by the Frankton Indiana History Club. Anastasia also offers practical guidance on navigating the Pomeroy Marker grant application process. In addition, NHC Executive Director Bob Nasson provides remarks on the value of participating in and preserving local history through NHC chapters nationwide.
