I use to wake up immediately and say, “I need my coffee.” I was exhausted, couldn’t sleep, and relied on coffee to get me by. When I learned that delaying caffeine intake could help my cortisol diurnal rhythm, energy levels and sleep… I was all in.
➡️ The optimal goal of caffeine delay is 60-90 minutes, but when I first started, I tried 20 mins and gradually pushed that time back. I made nourishing drink swaps to help and this is one that I still love to this day:
One of my Morning Tonics 🍹▫️ 6 ounces warm water
▫️1 tablespoon lemon juice (can omit if pairing with ACV is too much)
▫️1-2 tsp of ACV (apple cider vinegar)
▫️1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
▫️1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (ceylon cinnamon is best)
▫️1/2 - 1 tablespoon raw honey (local if you can)
▫️1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
▫️optional: dash of turmeric + black pepper
