Toyo-ken, located in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, is the restaurant where “toriten” originated, celebrating its 99th anniversary.
On busy days, they sell nearly 500 pieces of “toriten.” Why did a restaurant that originally served Western cuisine start serving “toriten”? The secret lies in the restaurant's long history.
And then there's Mr. Nakamura, the parking attendant, who is another “face” of the restaurant! His bright smile and philosophy toward his work are sure to win you over once you meet him.
