This is my Review of the Book "Hell to Pay - Operation Downfall and the Invasion of Japan 1945-47" written by D.M. Giangreco.
The book takes a detailed look at the planned Invasios of the Japanese Home Islands at the end of world war 2.
Those operations, although never carried out, remain a hotly debated topic even today, because the casualty estimates for those operations were one reason for the decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan.
