‘Womack & Womack’ were the singing and songwriting partnership and band of Linda Womack and Cecil Womack. The duo were successful as songwriters and had several international hits in the 1980s and 1990s.
“Teardrops" was a cool & catchy single from their fourth album, "Conscience". The song reached no. 3 in the U.K., no. 1 in the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand; and no. 2 in Germany and Switzerland.
I always liked it… so I recorded this version in my home studio.
I had some trouble trying to replicate Linda's voice in the original key. What I was happy about is using horns as the back up vocals. I used three saxophones each a third apart making it sound very chordal. I also added a flute and baritone sax into the mix.
All the melody voices are made using an AKAI wind synthesizer with a Patchman turbo chip.
