🌟 Start-Up and Support Self-Direction Budget Phase Explained! 🌟
In the Start-Up Phase of creating a Self-Direction Budget, the focus is on planning which services you’ll access for your loved one. During this phase, the only expense in your budget is the broker’s salary, and the broker works closely with the parent and Circle of Support team to make key decisions. 🤝📝
This planning process includes choosing services like:
✅ Classes for skill-building and growth
✅ Self-hired staff to provide personalized care
✅ Respite services to support caregivers
✅ Housing assistance for independent living options, and more! 🏡✨
🚀 The Launch Meeting happens once your budget is approved by the state office. In NYS its OPWDD!
At the launch meeting, you’ll get trained on using the Fiscal Intermediary (FI) portal and learn their policies and procedures for things like staffing and submitting receipts for reimbursement. This is your chance to ask questions and understand the tools available to manage your services. 🖥️📜
Once the initial budget is approved, it’s active for one year and then resets.
If your start up broker agrees to provide suppory brokerage them this is when the hands-on learning starts! Your broker will guide you through managing your budget and help you make adjustments as needed to ensure your loved one’s needs are being met. 💡💪
This process gives families the control and flexibility to choose the services that best fit their needs, while having expert support every step of the way. 🌈
