“My Old Kentucky Home” by the Knickerbocker Male Quartet 1909
The Knickerbocker Male Quartet was started in 1909 the same year that this record was recorded. The record is in remarkable shape for an early 4 minute wax record. Most blast and are nearly impossible to transfer. Towards the end there is one little skip that I can’t even see in the record surface, but I decided that it was too good to not transfer even with this little flaw.
More or less the same group was also called American Quartet, Edison Male Quartette, Premier Quartet, Premier Quartette, and Premier American Quartet.
Members of the quartet:
John Young (tenor), George M. Stricklett (tenor, 1909-12), Frederick Wheeler [aka James F. Harrison] (baritone), Gus Reed (bass vocals, 1909-12), Walter Van Brunt, William F. Hooley, Robert D. Armour, John Finnegan, Royal Fish, Harvey Hindermyer, Reinald Werrenrath, George Eldred (tenor, 1917-?), Robert Lewis [aka Lewis James] (tenor, 1917-?), William Morgan (baritone, 1917-?), Glenn Howard (bass vocals, 1917-?)
