🏉 Mid‑Season Review: Rugby in Carlow, Kilkenny & Tullow (2025)

It’s been another eventful season for club rugby in our corner of Leinster. County Carlow have continued to punch above their weight in the Leinster League, keeping them well placed in the Division 1B title race.

Across the county, women’s rugby is thriving — with local stars like Dannah O’Brien featuring on the international stage and representing Irish rugby at the highest level.

Kilkenny have shown grit and competitiveness throughout the campaign, particularly in tight league contests and local derbies, and continue to build momentum in both senior and youth ranks.

Tullow RFC remain committed to growth across all levels, from underage teams through to their senior sides. While the women’s team are facing stiff challenges in the All‑Ireland League, they continue to gain valuable experience, and the club’s development and participation numbers remain strong.

Off the pitch, plans for facility upgrades — including enhanced changing and training spaces — are moving forward, helping support expanding player bases and strengthening club infrastructure for 2026 and beyond.

From derby battles to cup runs and international representation, rugby across Carlow, Kilkenny and Tullow is showing encouraging signs of depth and ambition as we head into the new year.
