Hear this remarkable story from Al DeMaria, MD. Alfred DeMaria is an infectious disease physician by training who worked at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for 35 years in a variety of positions related to infectious disease epidemiology, disease control and laboratory sciences. He is a graduate of Boston University and Harvard Medical School. He trained in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York and in infectious diseases at Boston City Hospital He became interested in his predecessor William Augustus Hinton as a result of working at MDPH in the public health laboratory named after Hinton, from exploring archives of Dr. Hinton's work that survived and from a long association with the Public Health Museum in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.
