Camera Setup & Fine‑Tuning
With the rig structure finished, this part of the build focuses on mounting the Panasonic G95 and transforming the frame into a fully functional shooting platform. I start by securing the camera onto the baseplate, aligning it with the 15mm rods, and adjusting the height so the lens sits perfectly centered with the matte box. From there, I attach the compact external monitor, positioning it for clear visibility during shoulder‑mounted shooting.
The follow‑focus system takes the most time — dialing in gear placement, adjusting tension, and making sure the teeth mesh cleanly with the lens ring. This section is all about micro‑adjustments: sliding components millimeter by millimeter, tightening clamps, checking clearances, and ensuring nothing binds when pulling focus. By the end, the camera, monitor, and focus mechanism all work together as a smooth, unified system ready for handheld operation.
