Hello Friend and welcome back to my channel! Today we are going to be talking about how to measure your horse for boots. It’s very simple and a lot of times you don’t have to measure them at all.
Thank you to Kavallerie for sponsoring this video! They sent me a wonderful pair of Dressage boots and they are just gorgeous. You can get a pair here (for reverence the horse in the video is a large warmblood over 17hh and a large fit him perfectly in front) https://mykavallerie.com/products/pro...
To get the right sized boots for your horse I highly suggest finding the boots you want to buy and see if they have a size chart, not all boots follow the same sizing.
The first way to find the correct size for your horse is to go by their height only. Horses at the same height generally have the same leg size, there is a chart in the video at 0:51 that details that chart.
If the boots you want to purchase require measurements the most common one is around the middle of the canon bone between the knee and the fetlock.
To do this just take a flexible tailors measuring tape and measure that circumference.
If the boots are going to encompass the fetlock like sports medicine boots do, then you might need to take the measurements of the fetlock and the top of the canon bone just under the knee circumference as well.
Keep in mind most of the time that whatever the horse measures in front, that they will wear one size larger in hind boots.
Hope this helps!
Cheers!
B
