Government leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, raised immediate objections, arguing that quoting from unpublished material was against parliamentary rules and that the source’s authenticity couldn’t be verified on the floor of the House. Speaker Om Birla upheld the objection, reaffirming that members cannot quote from magazine or newspaper sources about matters unrelated to House proceedings.

Despite attempts by Gandhi to defend his reference and by Akhilesh Yadav to support his right to speak on national security, the Lok Sabha saw heated exchanges, protests and repeated interruptions from both treasury and opposition benches. At one point, proceedings were adjourned amid the uproar, as MPs continued to shout over rules and national security concerns.
