Описание: Let's explore one of the most astonishing burial grounds - the Valley of the Nobles in Luxor. Located in Upper Egypt on the western bank of the Nile, between the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, this ancient cemetery features more than hundreds of Egyptian tombs commissioned by the Egyptian nobility - courtiers, aristocrats, high priests, and artisans. This ancient site became famous along with the rest of the Western Thebes, (especially the Valley of the Kings) when in 1922 Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun - the boy pharaoh.


Today we’ll focus on spectacular ancient Egyptian art, especially on astonishing ancient paintings in the tombs of the nobility of the 18th and 19th dynasty - a period when Egypt was governed by some of its greatest kings: Thutmose I and II, Hatshepsut, Ramesses the Great or Seti I just to mention but a few. Members of the New Kingdom nobility adorned their tombs with spectacular reliefs and paintings.


Join me and explore the tombs of the New Kingdom elite: Neferrenpet/Neferronpet, Nefersekheru, Djehutimose, Nakht, Menna, Sennefer, Userhat, and… Userhat. Let’s admire the best examples of ancient Egyptian painting displaying everyday life of the ancient elite, the afterworld, and, naturally :D, Egyptian gods like Osiris, Anubis, or Horus as well as scenes from the ancient Egyptian funerary texts.
