If you haven't heard it yet, rates are going up. This unwelcome news is beginning to trickle through the market. Some buyers are even being pushed out of pre-qualification. We have seen rates increase about 1% in less than two weeks!
No, we have not had an increase in the federal funds rate. The Federal Reserve has not even said that they would raise rates.
Last week we got the consumer price index numbers, and it showed that inflation began to rise. In response to this the Federal Reserve announced that they are going to be delaying rate cuts and that we would likely only see two this year.
Consumer sentiment still seems to be strong as mortgage applications are still on the rise, however, it is important to emphasize possible solutions.
