Описание: Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival at Hong Kong's Tai O Fishing Village and watch the annual water parade! 🇭🇰

The Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade is an important traditional festival in Tai O with a history of over 100 years. It is said that Tai O was hit by a severe plague a century ago, with many villagers being infected and killed. To drive away the epidemic, villagers paraded statues of gods on dragon boats, sailing around the water village's canals and brought an end to the plague.

This tradition has been maintained up to this date. On the morning of the festival, members of three fisherman's associations from Tai O, namely Pa Teng Hong, Sin Yu Hong and Hop Sum Tong, visit four temples to pick up the statues of the gods. The statues are then put on sacred sampans towed by the associations’ dragon boats to parade through Tai O’s canals. This ritual is now on the list of Hong Kong's Intangible Cultural Heritage.
