Today, we're switching out movements (or the entire guts) from an non-working Automatic Invicta 8928, removing it and using the case for, and installing a 29675 Invicta quartz movement in it's place. We will use the solid steel case back of the 29675 and screw it onto the case of the 8928; previously an exhibition window.
The automatic will not wind and never did. I did not check it when I bought it; it was a backup in case the duplicate I was wearing failed; it did. When I took the new one out of the box, it would not wind (although it works on it's own). It was months over the return period so I continued to store it for parts. Later, my bracelet broke at the clasp where it was beyond reasonable repair (watch pin, not spring bar), that I tossed and took the bracelet from the one that wouldn't wind.
Now, the replacement is loosing an hour a day and I even sleep with it, so it has power. I bought the 29675 quartz only for the bracelet, since buying the watch was cheaper on Amazon, than buying the bracelet alone from Invicta. I kept the quartz watch for a backup, which I now need.
Of 7 Invicta watches I have currently, only 4 of them are working and one of them is now made of parts. When it goes, I will not replace it. Two automatics and one quartz (not shown) - trashed. I used to defend Invicta, but my experience tells me no matter how attractive they may be, Invicta is a disposable watch. I could not "switch" the unused non-winding watch by buying a new one and sending it back defective, because the movement is a NH25A, whereas the current models are NH35. I was responsible for it not winding, because I didn't check it when I bought it; I could have returned it then.
If you want a Rolex homage, I suggest another brand. Pagani Designs are basically a homage brand, but the GMT (Rolex Explorer II) I have is heavy like a Rolex, but sharp on the edges and uncomfortable to wear. I don't know about their other models. I hear good things about San Marco, Addiesdive and some others. My advice is to stay away from AliExpress and cheap sites that sell no-name watches. Go with Seiko, Citizen or Casio, where you know what you are getting. They will not look like Rolex, but they will last.
