Sinulog de Tanjay Festival or "Saulog de Tanjay" is held every July 24th, the day before the city's fiesta. Before, it was known as "Sinulog" but has been renamed to "Saulog" to distinguish it from the Sinulog of Cebu. A costume parade is held showing off the native costumes, while the horsefighting presentation re-enacts the battle between the Spaniards and the Muslims. The natives of Tanjay were christianized by the Spanish friars in the name of Saint James the Greater when they came to the eastern coast of Negros for a religious expedition.

Buglasan brings together the different Festivals in Negros Oriental in one colorful and mesmerizing event. This is a celebration that unites the people all over the stretched region of the Negros Island. Aside from watching the grandest events of Buglasan Festival, other great festivals can also be seen though out the year. From the north of Canlaon to the south of Basay, festivals are the essential celebrations that we Filipinos carry out through different generations.

The Buglasan Festival of Festivals, which includes a grand showdown and a street dancing competition, is the province’s premier showcase of the socio-cultural heritage and uniqueness of each town and city in Negros Oriental and is held every October
