Kinnagoe Bay is known as the location of the ship wreck of the Armada ship ‘La Trinidad Valencera’. About 40 lives were lost when she sank on 16 September 1588 and was discovered nearly 400 years later by divers from the City of Derry Sub Aqua Club.
The Tower Museum located in Derry City houses an exhibition which explores the story of the soldiers and sailors aboard the ship and the divers and archaeologists involved in the excavation.
