What Does Living in God's Grace Mean? The Truth That Changes Everything
Today we’re diving into a topic that has the power to transform your life. If you’ve ever struggled with guilt, felt weighed down by expectations, or wondered how to truly walk in God’s grace, then this message is for you. Understanding the depth of God’s grace is life-changing—period. So stay tuned, because you won’t want to miss this!
What is God’s Grace?
Many people live under the burden of guilt and condemnation, thinking they have to earn God's favor. But Jesus came to set us free from that mindset. He said in John 10:10 that He came so we may have life, and have it abundantly. The enemy, on the other hand, does everything in his power to blind us from this truth.
So, what does living in God’s grace mean? It means walking in the freedom that Christ has already won for us. It means knowing that God blesses us, not because of our goodness, but because of His goodness.
Grace vs. Law: Understanding the Old vs. New Covenant
To fully grasp God’s grace, we must understand the key difference between the Old Covenant (Law) and the New Covenant (Grace).
Under the Old Covenant, righteousness was based on obedience to the law. It was about our love for God, our works, and our performance.
Under the New Covenant, righteousness is based on Jesus’ finished work. It’s about God’s love for us and what He has already accomplished.
How to Live in God’s Grace
If you want to live in God’s grace and experience true freedom, here’s what you need to understand:
1. God’s Blessings Are Based on His Goodness, Not Ours
"God blesses you not because of what you have done, but because of what He has done."
Write that down. Let it sink into your heart. Many Christians strive tirelessly, thinking they have to perform to earn God’s love and approval. But Jesus already did the work. Your righteousness is not about what you do, but about what Jesus did for you.
2. Stop Striving, Start Receiving
The law was about deserved favor. Grace is about undeserved favor.
When you fall short—and we all do—remember that Jesus is your advocate before the Father. He already paid the price for your sins. God sees you through the finished work of His Son. So instead of striving to be perfect, receive His grace and allow it to transform your life.
3. Meditate on God’s Word
When you renew your mind with scripture, the enemy loses his grip. Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” If you’ve been carrying guilt, let this verse set you free.
4. Shift from “Do I Love God Enough?” to “God Loves Me Completely”
Under the law, people were taught to love God with all their heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5). But the truth is, no one can love God perfectly in their own strength. That’s why Jesus came—to demonstrate God’s perfect love for us. The New Covenant is about God’s love for you, not your love for Him.
The Bottom Line: Jesus Has Set You Free
The gospel of grace is not about legalism or religious striving. It’s about what Jesus has already done for you. You don’t have to live under guilt and condemnation anymore. You are free!
If you take away just one thing today, let it be this: You are loved, you are righteous, and you are accepted—not because of your efforts, but because of what Christ has done.
