Available in Almost Uncirculated condition, the Obverse of the coin shows a leftward facing profile of “Liberty,” her name inscribed on the crown she wears as 13 stars encircle her from above, and shows the date the coin was minted below her image. The previous design, which was discontinued in 1804, was the rightward facing Capped Bust design, depicting Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap. On the Reverse a simplified version of the Great Seal of the United States is shown. An interesting thing to note is that on the first Eagles, released from 1838 until 1936, the motto “In God We Trust” does not appear above the eagle.
