This clapton build has a 26G core wrapped with 32G kanthal. I used a snap swivel (commonly used for fishing and kiting) and an old protank/evod coil head. You would calculate the resistance for building using the gauge of the inner wire.

Using a protank/evod coil to guide the wire is the method first used, as far as I know, by Jessie McCoy.
