Living in Mataró, Barcelona, Spain for the past 7 months inspired me to create content that could transmit an image of this special and very political place. What developed out of this is my first short documentary- a 9 minute long journey through Mataró, led by the thoughts of locals and foreigners who are in one way or another connected to the city. I do not own equipment or software to develop a flawless and perfectly cut film, neither was this my intention. I way rather tried to mirror reality with all its flaws and mistakes.
Unfortunately, the outbreak of the coronavirus intervened with my work and I had to leave Spain before finishing all the filming that I had planned. However, this special situation requires all of us to adapt in many different ways so I decided to continue with the limited footage I had available. In a time full of restrictions and limitations, this short documentary provides an insight in a world shaped by the fighting spirit of feminism and separatism and by the powerful effects mutual cultural roots can have on people.
