Zubeen Garg was one of the most celebrated and influential singers, music composers, lyricists, and actors from Assam, India. Widely regarded as the “Heartthrob of Northeast India,” he left an everlasting mark on the music and film industry with his soulful voice and versatile talent.



From a young age, Zubeen learned tabla, dhol, guitar, harmonium, and keyboard. His musical journey began with Assamese songs, and soon, his popularity spread across India. His breakthrough came with the Assamese album Anamika (1992), which made him a famous name in Assam.




Zubeen rose to national fame with the Bollywood song “Ya Ali” from the movie Gangster (2006), which became a massive hit. Apart from Hindi and Assamese, he sang in Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Nepali, and other languages, recording thousands of songs in his career.

Besides singing, Zubeen was also a composer, music director, actor, filmmaker, and philanthropist. He acted in Assamese films like Mission China and directed movies as well. His songs often carried messages of love, humanity, and social awareness.

Known for his humble lifestyle and deep bond with fans, Zubeen was more than just a singer—he was an emotion for the people of Assam and the Northeast.

Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly in September 2025, leaving behind a void in Indian music. His fans continue to celebrate his songs, keeping his legacy alive for generations.
