Volcan Poás is an active stratovolcano located in Poás National Park in Costa Rica's central valley. It's one of the country's most popular natural sites to visit, and for good reason. The area surrounding the volcano is breathtaking, almost magical. Surrounded by lush cloud forests teaming with tons of varieties of flora and fauna, it's enchanting to say the least.
If you're in the area, definitely consider a visit to this incredible natural wonder. Many visitors unfortunately don't get a chance to see the massive volcanic crater, one of the largest in the world, due to the almost constant cloud and fog cover. However, with some luck and a bit of patience you might just be rewarded with some spectacular views.
