TEAM COVERAGE: 2 East Cleveland police officers shot overnight

Описание: Two East Cleveland police officers were shot late Thursday night into early Friday morning, city officials confirm to 3News.

Mayor Lateek Shabazz confirmed the shooting of the first officer, saying he had been shot in the leg during an incident in the area of North Taylor Road. That officer was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and is expected to be OK.


Nearly two hours later, Safety Director Mansell Baker verified that a second officer had also been shot about a block away near Euclid Avenue, though further details are not known at this time. Information regarding the officer's condition was not immediately available.

A search and SWAT standoff is now underway, with the suspect believed to be "hiding" in the area. Law enforcement officers from several agencies are at the scene, with multiple drones being deployed.
