Описание: Saturday July 22 at 17.15. The 16.36 Carlisle to Barrow-in-Furness(19.11) train running 3 minutes late and the 15.33 Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle (18.06) train. These were the last but one trains to do that full journey that day although this end of the line gets some evening services. None of the wait for the first train has been cut to show just how unsatisfactorily the crossing operates. Maryport station is one third of a mile to the right so the barriers were probably lowered before the train reached there. If fines were introduced for causing unnecessary delays at level crossings NR would soon stop doing this sort thing. This is the most northerly crossing on the Cumbria Coast line, Carlisle is 27 miles away and Scotland not much further. 11,000 people live here and 124 use the station daily but that is reducing. Unusually the station only has one platform. 22 seconds of the wait for the second train was cut.
