TSTT Workers Receive Retrenchment Letters (Update)

Описание: Workers at the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) have begun receiving retrenchment letters.

Confirmation came on Thursday from the Communication Workers’ Union which only on Wednesday said they would fight TSTT's proposed plan to make hundreds of workers' positions redundant.

The letters from TSTT indicate a decision was taken to pay in lieu of the 45 days’ Notice and today, Thursday November 15th, is the workers’ last working day.

Just on Wednesday, the union held an emergency meeting with its members to discuss a way forward after receiving the list of positions to be made redundant from the telecommunications company.

CWU Secretary General Clyde Elder said the letter was a signal of what the company intends to do and the union objects and will not accept those plans. He has labelled the company's actions as "class warfare."
