Caminha is a municipality in the north-west of Portugal, 21 km north of Viana do Castelo, located in the Viana do Castelo District. The population in 2011 was 16,684, in an area of 136.52 km².
Caminha is subdivided into 14 civil parishes. The parish of Vilar de Mouros is famous for the oldest rock festival in Portugal. The seat of the municipality is the town (or vila in Portuguese) of Caminha, with 2,500 inhabitants.
The town is on the Portuguese Way path of the Camino de Santiago.
Caminha is located 2 km from the Atlantic Ocean, on the southern side of the Minho estuary, where this river is met by the smaller and meandering Coura River. Here, the Minho reaches its widest point (about 2 km) and marks the border between Portugal and Spain (Galiza). The highly scenic area, with the wide estuary marked by low-tide sandbars, a pastoral and green rural landscape, and pine forests on the slopes of the granitic mountains, is increasingly popular for second homes and as a summer resort.
The large Parish Church (begun 1488) is one of the most significant buildings illustrating the transition from Gothic to Renaissance in Portugal, with Manueline influence. Several architects from Northern Spain participated in its long construction. The outstanding timber roof in the interior has rich decoration showing Moorish influences (Mudéjar style).
Other major points of interest include the main square (Renaissance fountain of 1551), several Gothic and Renaissance houses in the old core and main square, and remains of medieval and 17th-century fortifications. Some pre-Roman archeological findings and ethnographic pieces are shown in the modest Municipal Museum.
The marshes along the Coura are protected and good for birdwatching.
The Atlantic beaches in the area are wide and have good sand but tend to be windy for part of the day; the Moledo beach (4 km south) attracts surfers. River and sea excursions can be arranged with local fishermen.

Caminha está subdividida em 14 freguesias. A freguesia de Vilar de Mouros é famosa pelo festival de rock mais antigo de Portugal. A sede do concelho é a vila de Caminha, com 2.500 habitantes.
A cidade faz parte do Caminho Português de Santiago.
Caminha situa-se a 2 km do Oceano Atlântico, na margem sul do estuário do Minho, onde este rio se encontra com o mais pequeno e sinuoso rio Coura. Aqui, o Minho atinge o seu ponto mais largo (cerca de 2 km) e marca a fronteira entre Portugal e Espanha (Galiza). A zona de grande beleza paisagística, com o amplo estuário marcado por bancos de areia na maré baixa, uma paisagem rural verdejante e pastoril, e pinhais nas encostas das montanhas graníticas, é cada vez mais popular para segundas residências e como estância de veraneio.
A grande Igreja Matriz (inaugurada em 1488) é um dos edifícios mais significativos que ilustram a transição do Gótico para o Renascimento em Portugal, com influência manuelina. Vários arquitetos do Norte de Espanha participaram na sua longa construção. O notável telhado de madeira no interior apresenta uma rica decoração com influências mouriscas (estilo mudéjar).
Outros pontos de interesse importantes incluem a praça principal (fonte renascentista de 1551), várias casas góticas e renascentistas no núcleo antigo e na praça principal, e vestígios de fortificações medievais e do século XVII. Alguns achados arqueológicos pré-romanos e peças etnográficas estão expostos no modesto Museu Municipal.
Os sapais ao longo do Coura são protegidos e propícios à observação de aves.
As praias atlânticas da região são amplas e têm boa areia, mas tendem a ser ventosas durante parte do dia; a praia de Moledo (4 km a sul) atrai surfistas. Podem ser organizadas excursões fluviais e marítimas com pescadores locais.
