We all arrive with dreams of a new beginning, chasing the great American dream. But reality greets us in unexpected ways—strange place names, tiny shared apartments instead of the dream homes we imagined, and a world that feels like everything is in reverse. The grocery aisles overwhelm us with endless choices, every purchase is calculated in taka, and even the simplest things—like a missing bidet—feel like betrayals.

We struggle to understand American accents, navigate new classroom dynamics, and battle loneliness on days that should be filled with celebration. The first Eid away from home is a quiet affair. Scam emails lurk in our inboxes, and sickness reminds us that we are alone. Yet, amid all the confusion, something magical happens—we find family in the faces of strangers. The Bangladeshi community becomes our safe haven, our source of laughter, support, and shared joy. Slowly, we learn to survive, to embrace the unknown, and to build a home away from home.

This short film is a tribute to every Bangladeshi student who has stepped onto foreign soil with hope in their heart, faced the struggles of a new world, and found the strength to keep going. This is our story. This is I Come to America.
