Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K | Mir-1 37MM | Footage / Video Test

Описание: Today, my sweet boy and I shot some test footage on my BM6K paired with the Mir-1 37mm lens. I also used a custom filter to enhance edge aberrations, specifically amplifying lens coma and introducing a pleasing vertical streaking effect that adds motion and character to the frame. It’s a look I’m currently studying and refining for my next documentary, and I think it came through really well here.

I have a large collection of new and 'expensive' lenses, from the Canon RF and L series to Sigma Art, and so on, but none of them have the character of the lenses I’m testing now. I’d pushed away the idea of filming with vintage lenses for almost 10 years, but now that I’ve tried them out, I’m obsessed. I’m done with clinically perfect, 'sharp' lenses and am diving headfirst into new, more unique styles.

Shot in 6K, downscaled to 4K. I didn’t have a Color Checker with me, so color consistency might be slightly off between shots. Shot in BRAW Constant Bitrate 8:1 and did a basic color correction (also boosted saturation slightly to bring out that vibrant summer look).

YES, the Mir-1 feels like a wider Helios-44, but with less swirl. Due to the different aperture and wider field of view, it takes more effort to bring out that characteristic swirl. It’s also an f/2.8 instead of f/2, which definitely makes a difference—the Helios-44 gives you that swirl much more easily.

Still not satisfied with the FOV I’m getting, so I picked up a Panasonic Lumix S5 and just ordered a few more bodies (S1H, Canon C80, Canon C400) to finally capture that full, cinematic swirl. Stay tuned: I’ll be uploading tons more footage once I’ve got them in hand.
