Today's Trains Excursion is a Very Special One, it is Pulled by Reading and Northern 425, the Pacific 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive! She is pulling the Mountain Top Rotary Excursion, from Mountain Top PA to Jim Thorpe PA. Together Me, Keeper of Steam Studios, and Ethan Trainz Productions, Chased her, at Different spots and a Shot at a Cement Tunnel on the Road. We Then arrive at Jim Thorpe to catch 425 Arriving in the Jim Thorpe Station. Along the Way l, we Get the Regular Tourist Train Leaving the Lehigh Gorge Railroad, and it Finally Starts to Pour Down Rain and Thunder and Lightning. Then 425 Comings in the Rain. After the Rain stops and Slows down We Get 425 On the Turn Table which was something to See and was cool! Unfortunately, I was able to Stay for the Return Trip back to Mountain Top! But it worth the Chase! R&N 425 was Wearing a Baltimore & Ohio 3 Chime Whistle! Enjoy!
Reading and Northern 425- is a 4-6-2 Pacific Built by Baldwin in January 1928, for the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad line, and later Became Gulf Mobile and Ohio 580, and her sister 426 (582) were both retired in 1950. She then became No.4 on the Louisiana Eastern Railroad, and Unfortunately her Sister 3 (426) was Scrapped, but 4 was Sold to the Valley Forge Scenic Railroad, were she was renumbered 425 again! It was Moved to Wilmington and Western Railroad in 1970s but never ran, Until finally in the 1980s. In 1983 425 was sold finally to the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad, and ran thru the 1980s, and along with Reading Company 4-8-4 2102, in 1987. 425 Continued to run through the 1990s. 1992 she was Painted Blue to her Known colors today. In 1995 She was presented to the Grand opening of Steamtown National Historic Site, and ran until 1996, when she took an extended break from 1996- 2008, and finally returned in 2008. Still in her Blue Paint scheme, she Does Excursions all over today!
