Chuka Taisen was a Japan-only release for the Nintendo Famicom console. It was a port of the arcade game Cloud Master, a shoot 'em up based in China of old. In it, you control Michael Chen, whose vehicle of choice happens to be a cloud (hence the name Cloud Master). Mike Chen's cloud-riding mission is to defeat evil forces that seem to have it in for him, for whatever reason.
This game is more of an avoid 'em up than a shooter. Once you're sufficiently powered-up, and have collected the collectible for auto-fire, it's mostly a case of holding down the fire buttons and avoiding stuff. I guess that's true for all shoot 'em ups really! This doesn't necessarily make the game easy, as bullets are not always easy to spot, and some enemies will fly quickly at you.
The game also received conversions at the time for the PC Engine and Sega Master System, although only the Master System version found its way into the west. The game has also been more recently rereleased as Monkey King: Master of the Clouds for PC, Switch and PlayStation 4.
