Do you produce or process oxygen-free copper? Then your main analysis requirement is probably to keep the oxygen below certain ppm levels, typically using combustion analysis. There can be disadvantages though: it can be expensive, time-consuming, and demanding.
OFC, also known as ETP copper or electrolytic-tough pitch copper is the most widely used copper grade in the world. Until now there hasn’t been an alternative solution for oxygen analysis but for OFCs like C1100, our spark optical emission spectrometer OE750 could be a solution for you. The OE750 spark spectrometer analyzes all major alloying elements and identifies exceptionally low levels of tramp, trace, and treatment elements in metals. It also covers difficult OES applications such as oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen in titanium alloys, oxygen in copper alloys and nitrogen in steel alloys.
The typical oxygen concentration in C1100 is between 200-400 ppm. The OE750 calibration range for oxygen is from 10 ppm to 500 ppm so you can measure this grade reliably.
The OE750 is also one of the few CMOS based spark spectrometers in this price range that offers oxygen analysis. It’s a real alternative to combustion analysis for C1100 and much faster and easier to use.
