I met William Ferris in December 2013, in Paris for an interview for BLUES MAGAZINE. My friend Dominique Boulay, who knew I was in total awe with Bill Ferris's amazing and huge work, asked me to come with him to interview the great man. What an honor! Bill Ferris and I had already something in common which could seal easily a bond between the two of us : we were friends with Pat Thomas, son of the legendary James Son Thomas. So when we met, some magic swirled in the beautiful apartment rue Vieille du Temple. After this moment, I worked with Bill and helped him select photographs for his important book The SOUTH IN COLOR. My mission was to watch the contact sheets belonging to William Ferris's photographic work and select the images i thought would be appropriate for the SOUTH IN COLOR. What a journey it was and how honored i felt --knowing that William Ferris (who barely knew me), had put all his trust in me and my eye. Since then, our friendship has crossed time and space and we carry on exchanging emails about our works. and our lives. So here is the song I wrote about my dearest friend, Pat Thomas who passed away in February. He was only 64 and my heart is still broken. To Pat, to friendship, to the Blues and to Bill!
