Liberal MP Andrew Hastie has failed to back Opposition Leader Sussan Ley’s initial demand to fire Kevin Rudd as the Ambassador to the US.
Ms Ley called for Kevin Rudd to be brought home from Washington earlier this week, following his awkward encounter with US President Donald Trump.
“We all make unwise comments, but he copped it on the chin for the country,” Mr Hastie said in response to Ms Ley’s comments.
