The Starting Point: Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station (Geographic South Pole - 90°S). Located deep within the Antarctic interior at an altitude of 2,835m. It is the most isolated frozen desert on the planet.
The Transition: Moving towards the coast to the massive Ice Shelves (such as the Ross Ice Shelf or Weddell Sea). This is the boundary where glaciers meet the ocean, creating a hidden ecosystem.
The Main Setting: The Southern Ocean – The waters surrounding the continent, where life explodes just beneath meters of solid ice.
