Pam Farago and Lori Darnulc talk with Bonnie Browning about the Garden State Quilters and the many activities of their guild. The guild is celebrating its 40th anniversary, having started in 1981 by seven quilters. Hundreds of quilts that are donated to area hospitals and Meals on Wheels through the Sunshine Committee. One quilt donated to the Daughters of the American Revolution raised $7,500 to support 95 homeless veterans. They are making quilts for the Innocence Project for those who are found innocent and released from prison. The guild also makes friendship quilts and blocks of the month.
Due to COVID-19, the Garden State Quilters are holding their monthly meetings with speakers via Zoom. They are hoping to hold their end-of-the-year Strawberry Supper in person with masks and social distancing in June, and the block of the month quilts will be shown by those who participated.
