Video shows how to swap out the original cam chain tensioner with the Dirty Tricks tensioner.
KTM tensioners use oil pressure. This is not a good system and it leads to a loose cam chain and undue wear on parts leading to major problems. The Dirty Tricks tensioner uses a spring and is much more consistent and reliable.
Installation instructions:
Start of video: bike running before installation. Note the ticking and rattling.
9 sec: remove this inner nut (with an Allen wrench) then remove the outer nut (22mm).
11 sec: take out the old tensioner, save the O ring (it goes back on the new tensioner).
18 sec: Place the Dirty Tricks tensioner in the bike with it in the fully collapsed position.
26 sec: replace the larger, outer nut.
32 sec: torque outer nut to 18.4 ft lbs.
50 sec: slide the DT spring into the small nut hole and replace smaller inner nut. Torque to 5.9 ft lbs.
(note: the part of the video with the spring install glitched and was removed - but the spring just slides right in)
58 sec: bike running more smoothly - a major difference!!
