In this episode, I finally crossed the border from Afghanistan into Iran via the historic Islam Qala – Dogharoon border crossing. What I thought would be a straightforward entry quickly turned into a long and stressful experience.
After entering Iran, I was stuck dealing with customs procedures for over 2.5 hours. Paperwork, waiting, confusion — and no clear answers. Just when I thought it was over, things got even more intense.
At a security check post, I was pulled aside for a serious interrogation. Every single bag was opened, all my gear was inspected, and my phones were checked thoroughly. The questions were sharp, detailed, and honestly… terrifying. For a moment, I wasn’t sure how this would end.
After hours of tension and uncertainty, I was finally allowed to continue my journey and reached Taybad, the first small city on the Iranian side of the border — a huge relief after one of the most stressful border crossings of my life.
This is raw, real, and unfiltered border-crossing reality — something you rarely see.
