Bats belong to the order Chiroptera, which is second only to order Rodentia (the rodent order) in number of species. If bats and rodents were classified together, they would make up about half of all mammal species! Chiroptera alone includes some 1,200 different types of bats.
Bats often represent death in the sense of letting go of the old, and bringing in the new. They are symbols of transition, of initiation, and the start of a new beginning.
Bat is the only mammal that even flies but it is considered to be mammal because of the characteristic feature which is exhibited only by the mammals. They have organs which help in nurturing their babies.
