This week I started my first seeds of 2024! Cool season flowers are early spring hardy annuals and can be planted out 6 to 8 weeks before your last frost date.
All of these flowers I sowed will need to be a transplant size seedling by then.
Our avarage last frost date in NYC is on April 1st (It changed this year) and these seeds will need about 4 to 6 weeks to become a healthy seedling, so that’s why I’m starting so early!
I LOVED growing cool flowers last spring, it basically gives you a whole new growing season since they will mostly grow through the winter and flower in very early spring.
By then it will be time to plant my heat loving veggies that I plan to be the majority of our summer garden this year.
