In the video, I portray “The Future King,” a down-on-his-luck searcher looking for a way to keep his shine.
Last winter I was enjoying one of those perfect winter beach days on a large vacant stretch of beach at Bates beach in Carpinteria. Out of nowhere a lone metal detector man, dressed like Walter from the Big Lebowski showed up with an uncomfortably close proximity to our blanket. I took a mental note, “total lost padre there…” The Prophet, played by Daniel Wright, is an unabashed nod to the incomparable Fletch.
It was a lighthearted project to create and serves as a fun accompaniment to the heavier themes found on the record. We had a very enjoyable time making it, and I hope that joy translates over to you and those who watch it.
