VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
My dad and I have always been really close. He's always been the kind of dad that no matter how much he had going on, he would drop everything to do something with me. We've been going to the same beach - Long Beach Island - since I was born. We just love the beach, love the ocean. He would be in the water for hours with me. He always built sandcastles - whatever I wanted to do. When I was a teenager, his health really started to decline and he got very sick.

Like just walking or going up a flight of steps, he really had to struggle for every breath. As he got worse over the years and needed oxygen, I definitely worried about losing him. It was very scary to see that happening. His pulmonologist in Bethlehem sent him to the Temple Lung Center.
From the moment we got to Temple, We felt like we had hope. We thought we didn't have any other options and didn't know really where to turn. And once he went to Temple, we realized that they were there to help us. They said he needed a lung transplant to survive.
They had the experience with people who were struggling like my dad. All the nurses, all the doctors - everyone had so much experience dealing with patients who need lung transplants, that it was an overwhelming feeling. And it was wonderful to know that he was going to be taken care of. My dad had a lot of health issues while he was waiting for a transplant and even though that was happening, they worked through the problems with him.
The Temple Lung Center was absolutely wonderful the entire time. My dad had a lung transplant at the Temple Lung Center 13 years ago now, so it's absolutely amazing what he's been able to do since then. Before he would be walking somewhere and we'd have to stop 3, 4 times. So now after, we're the ones struggling to keep up with him! But there's nothing he can't do. He can fix absolutely anything, he can redo bathrooms, he can paint, he can build anything you need. Cooks, bakes pies - so pretty much anything imaginable he can do.
It was the most wonderful feeling to have my dad at my wedding. We knew we wanted to get married on Long Beach Island, because it was such a special place to us for my whole life. So the moment that I saw my dad on my wedding day, it was so emotional for everyone. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. And having him there to walk me down the aisle, it was such an incredible moment for Temple has 100% saved my dad's life. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have had him at my high school graduation, getting married, buying a house, and millions of other things, and I'm grateful every day that I have him there for every single moment on my life.
