This Samsung Freestyle LSP3B portable projector came in 100% dead:
– No power
– No LED
– No USB-C power negotiation
– Even the USB-C power meter would not turn on

In this video, I perform a full disassembly and step-by-step power failure diagnosis, turning this repair into a complete teardown and troubleshooting guide for the Samsung Freestyle projector.

The disassembly alone is extremely time-consuming and complex. Once opened, the internal design reveals a puzzle-like construction:

Around four stacked PCBs

A cooling fan and heatsink placed between boards

Multiple flat ribbon cables and wiring harnesses interconnecting everything

The main power distribution board located at the very bottom, meaning everything above it must be removed first

After fully stripping the unit down, I traced the fault to the main 20V power rail, which was shorted directly to ground.
Before voltage injection, a detailed visual inspection revealed the real culprit:
➡️ A discolored and cracked capacitor on the power distribution board.

Once the faulty capacitor was removed, the short circuit disappeared. Since it was the only capacitor in that part of the circuit, I replaced it and moved on to testing.

The moment of truth:

USB-C power meter powered on

Power Delivery controller became active

20V negotiation restored successfully

Reassembly took even longer than the teardown, but after a full rebuild, the final test confirmed:
✅ Projector powers on
✅ Power rails stable
