In the final episode of the series, John Kelly meets with renowned television personality and writer, Clive James. Known for his acerbic wit, Clive has been a critic and prominent feature on British television for over 30 years.
Born in Australia, Clive moved to England in 1962 where he went onto study English Literature at Cambridge University. He was soon able to combine his intellect with his love of television when The Observer newspaper hired him to write a weekly review column. Clive’s droll take on the television of the day helped to turn him into a star.
From here, Clive's own television career beckoned and he brought the irreverent critique of his newspaper column to the small screen in the series ‘Clive James on Television’. He went onto present several travel series such as ‘Clive James in...’ and ‘Postcards from...’
Many of Clive's television fans may not realise that he is a prolific writer having written dozens of books including anthologies of his newspaper articles, novels and poetry.
Clive, who has been battling illness for the last few years, talks to John about his need to continue writing.
