I really enjoy watching food-themed Japanese TV series and one of my favorites is Midnight Diner 『深夜食堂』on Netflix. The series is originated from manga and each of the episodes features a dish and story related to that particular dish.
In Season 1 Episode 5, butter rice バターライス was featured and I wondered how a simple dish would taste like so I decided to give it a try. For different tastes, you can also add katsuobushi (鰹節), nori or seaweed (海苔), pollock roe (鱈子), or shichimi (七味唐辛子).

Rice – one serving
Butter – small chunk
Soy sauce – a few drops (beware of your salt intake 😊)
